Readers who have held on to a library book a few days too long will have an opportunity to take care of those late charges during National Library Week. The Pella Public Library is holding a “Food For Fines” event, when people can exchange a food item in return for a dollar credit toward overdue books. Acceptable food items include non-perishable canned good and packaged items like tuna, soups, fruits and vegetables. Donations will count toward a maximum of $5.00 in fines, and food items can be dropped off at the circulation desk during regular library hours.
