Marion County had many strong performances at the Central College High School Indoor Track and Field Meet on Saturday. The Knoxville Girls had five top ten finishes. Alissa Van Klootwyk was sixth in the 3000…while Amy Turner tied for ninth in the 55 meter dash. Lydia Anderson continued her strong start to the season with an eighth place in the 1500. Knoxville’s four-by-200 meter relay team was ninth and Chambray Daugherty also was impressive clearing four feet ten inches in the high jump…good enough for seventh. The Pella boys were also at the meet and garnered 13 top tens led by Zach Buchheit’s win in the 3200. He was followed over the line by teammates Evan Jones in fifth…Micheal Schemm in ninth and Matthew Klein in tenth. Chris Brogden was fifth in the 55 meter dash followed by teammate Dan Borgerding’s tenth. Wade Pingell grabbed a fifth place in the 1600…while Brandon Konfrst was eighth in the 200…Colton Haning was fifth in the 800…and Borgerding notched his second individual top ten with a fourth in the shot put. The Little Dutch were also good in the relay events with the four-by-800 grabbing fourth place…the four-by-200 getting fourth and the four-by-400 getting ninth. This was a non-scored meet and around 40 schools in all competed from all four classes.
