A Knoxville man suffered life threatening injuries in a three vehicle accident in Davenport Wednesday.

According to Captain David Struckman of the Davenport Police Department a passenger car driven by the Knoxville man exited the interstate 80 eastbound ramp exit 292 at Northwest Boulevard. The driver continued through a red light at the junction of the ramp and Northwest Boulevard crossing the southbound lanes and median before striking a tractor trailer which was heading northbound.

The force of the crash caused the tractor trailer to be pushed in an easterly direction into a second tractor trailer that was also heading northbound on Northwest Boulevard. The drive of the car was transported to Genesis East Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for life threatening injuries. Both semi-truck drivers were uninjured.

The accident remains under investigation by the Davenport Police Department.
