The Knoxville School Board met in special session last night to discuss budget issues. Business Manager Craig Mobley presented a budget analysis examining estimated revenues and expenses for fiscal years 2011 and 2012, and an analysis of the impact of new money on the district with projected enrollments through 2016. Much of the discussion centered on the negative impact of Governor Branstad’s recommendation of 0% allowable growth on the district. The analysis showed that with declining enrollment and 0% allowable growth through 2013 the district would be losing money by the years 2012-2013.

Both Mobley and Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack shared that it is difficult to prepare a budget for the upcoming year when the legislature is still in session and their decisions regarding school funding not finalized.
