The Knoxville School Board met in regular session last night. At the meeting the board received an initial proposal from the Teamsters Union for a 2% increase in pay for the district’s associates and paraeducators, discussed potential physical plant projects. Approved a bid from Van Sittert for $329,000 for boiler replacement, approved a $398,500 bid from Van Maanen Construction for lighting replacement and rejected a bid for window and door replacement as only one was submitted that was nearly twice the estimated cost.

The board also heard from several citizens in support of building an auditorium in the district and from coaches Eric Whitcome and Troy Rider about a request to upgrade and expand the high school weight room.

In addition, the board also discussed salvage prior to the demolition of the old junior high building, approved a 28E agreeement for food services and further discussed the one-to-one laptop program.

The next meeting is Monday March 7th and the only item scheduled to be on the agenda is the approval of the laptop program.
