As previously reported on KNIA/KRLS the Knoxville City Council approved the 2011-2012 City budget at their meeting this week. City Manager Dick Schrad says this year’s budget is primarily maintenance of the status quo for Knoxville as there were no major changes. He says it was their goal to keep the current programs in services in place without significantly increasing the cost to tax payers and he thinks they’ve accomplished that. Schrad says there will be a small increase in levy but that is primarily due to with the mandatory requirements for things like the police and fire retirement system and insurance.
