Nearly 200 people attended Saturday night’s public concert at the Knoxville Middle School, featuring our fourth and final Arts Midwest World Fest Guests – Agatsuma. The event featured a variety of songs played on the shamisen, piano and Japanese drums ranging from folk songs to original compositions by Agatsuma and his ensemble to traditional songs that can be recognized around the world.

Donation jars were set up at the concert and at Peace Tree Brewing Company during Agatsuma’s stay in the area and more than $800 was raised for the American Red Cross, which will go directly toward the earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan. The donations will be matched by Arts Midwest as they continue toward their goal of raising at least $5,000.
