The polls closed just over an hour ago for Marion County’s special Local Option Sales and Services Tax renewal election and an overwhelming majority of residents voted in favor of extending the 1% tax. In Knoxville, of 356 total votes, 305 residents voted yes and in Pella, 447 of 526 voters checked yes. A total of 1,645 votes were cast, equal to 6.93% of all registered voters in the county.

In addition, Melcher-Dallas voters elected Terry A. Fisher to their City Council with 137 votes out of 157.

The results are unofficial until caucused by the Marion County Board of Supervisors.
