In early March, the Pella Little League Board had a meeting to discuss registration numbers. It was confirmed that 502 kids between the ages of 5 and 14 registered to play baseball and softball this spring into the summer. With the average team consisting of 10 players, there is currently a shortage in coaches.
Twenty-one people have committed to being a head coach. There is also about 20 that have volunteered as assistant coaches. As of right now, 51 teams will be created.
The Pella Little League is looking for volunteers to help teach kids the game, but we would like to see the coaches teach the 6 pillars of Character Counts – trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
If someone would like to volunteer, go to www.pellalittleleague.com and click on the Volunteer tab at the top of the page. Complete the forms and send them to the address listed.
