A civil lawsuit has been filed in Marion County that places the Red Rock Lake Marina in receivership. Court documents dated February 21st name the Marina, Mark Bockenstedt of Polk City, the US Army Corps of Engineers and others as defendants in the case. The document states the Marina owes $1,147,046.10 to the Polk County Bank in Johnston. The court placed the receivership in control of Ruhl and Ruhl Commercial Company of West Des Moines. When contacted by KNIA/KRLS News, Mr. Bockenstedt had no comment. In an e-mail sent to KNIA/KRLS from the Marina’s e-mail address, staff said Mr. Bockenstedt remains the owner of the Marina, and plans are for the Marina to open this spring. According to the Iowa Secretary of State’s website, a certification of dissolution of the Red Rock Lake Marina owned by Bockenstedt was filed last August. Kurt Mumm, President of the Des Moines Region of Ruhl and Ruhl says they have had conversations with the Corps of Engineers and the goal is to have the Marina in operation this spring. Mumm says he hopes to have more information in the next couple of weeks regarding the spring opening, and hopes to have all issues resolved in a positive manner.
