The Pella Community School Board convened yesterday for their only March meeting. The Board discussed the 2011-2012 budget, which does include an increase in the special education deficit, due largely to a lack of federal funds.

The first public hearing for next year’s budget will be Aril 11th. The Board also approved a bid by Koopman Roofing and Insulation for roof repairs totaling just over $148,311.72, and during the same conversation, elected to participate with the city for some parking lot refurbishments in conjunction with the University Street repair project.

Members also passed resolutions to continue swimming agreements with Ottumwa and Newton, the Choir trip to New York, an agreement with a driver’s education provider and approved the resignation of Laura Johnson.
