Unemployment numbers for January have been released. According to the statistics provided by Iowa Workforce Devlopment, Marion County saw an increase in the unemployment rate of more than a percent, to 7.3% compared to the 6% of the final month of 2010. Fifteen-thousand, six hundred-thirty people were employed in Marion County, out of a workforce of 16,870. Marion County’s unemployment rate is higher that the state of Iowa as a whole. Statewide, the unemployment rate in January was 6.1%
