11 area high school events have qualified for this week’s 102nd running of the Drake Relays. Pella and Knoxville both will send four events while Pella Christian has qualified two and P-C-M will send one event. For Knoxville, the Panthers will send their boys 4×100 meter relay team along with to no one’s surprise the 4×800 relay team. Coach Mike Cunningham the Second says the guys on the 4×800 will have to dig deep to be in contention for the win, however he is confident. Along with the 4×8 team the Panthers also will send two individuals. Alex Edwards will run in the open 800 and Derek Seddon will participate in the discus. For Pella, the Little Dutch divided their four events between the boys and girls evenly. The girls will have their 4×100 and 400 meter relay teams on the Blue Oval while the boys 4×100 team will also run along with the 4×800 meter team. Pella Christian qualified two events for the Drake Relays as the boys and girls 4×100 meter relays team made it in. P-C-M’s one event was the girls 4×100 meter relay making three area teams to qualify for the girls 4×100. The high school portion of the Drake Relays will start Thursday.
