Central College senior Matt Graber won the shot put for the fourth straight week at the Jim Duncan Invitational Friday evening. Battling wind and rain, the Dutch also posted two personal bests in the first day of the two-day track and field meet featuring NCAA Division I, II and III squads.
Graber recorded a 51-1.5 mark to claim the event title. Teammate Phillip Miller followed in fourth place, unleashing a career-best toss of 48-8. Andrew Hamer placed fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the line in 10:04.63.
On the women’s side Mel McDermott finished third in 10,000-meter run with a lifetime-best time of 37:43.44.
Central returns to action tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the men’s discus throw and the women’s javelin throw.
