The offensive struggles continued Tuesday evening for the Central College baseball team, as the Dutch dropped a pair of games at Simpson College; 9-1 and 3-0.  Central has scored just one run in the last 21 innings of play.
Central’s lone run on Tuesday came right away in the first game, as designated hitter Caleb Rangel doubled to left center and stole third base before crossing the plate on a throwing error.  Central had five more hits in the game, but were shut out the rest of the way.  Pitcher Joel Pulliam gave up eight runs on nine hits in the loss.
Game two was not much better for the Central baseball team, as the Dutch had just four hits against Simpson starter Chris Dorff.  Michael Jontz pitched well for Central, giving up six hits and two runs in five innings of work to keep the Dutch in the game, but never got the offensive support he needed.
The Central baseball team is now 12-8 overall and off to a 3-5 start in conference play, but begins a five-game home stand on Saturday when they host Washington University in a non-conference doubleheader at the A.N. Kuyper Athletic Complex in Pella.
