The Central College baseball team was unable to come up with the game-winning out as Grinnell College topped the Dutch 15-13 in a non-conference matchup Monday afternoon.  The Dutch held a 13-12 edge with two outs in the ninth inning. But the Pioneers utilized two walks, a hit batter and a right-field single to steal the lead.
Grinnell outhit the Dutch 15-12. Central committed five errors compared to three from the Pioneers. Both teams left at least 10 batters on base.  Designated hitter Caleb Rangel ripped three doubles to lead the Dutch offense. He drove in four runs, walked twice and scored three times. On the mound, Central used five different pitchers, but it was Bret Bell who would have to take the loss after yielding three runs in the ninth inning.
