The Central College women’s and men’s 4×400 meter relay teams were the marquee performers on Saturday as the Jim Duncan Invitational resumed at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
The storied season for the Dutch women’s 4×400 relay team continued, as the foursome of Jill Ziskovsky, Emily Teas, Rachel Purdy and Felicia Coleman took runner-up honors in the meet’s final collegiate event; crossing the finishing line in a record-breaking three minutes, 50.16 seconds.
The mark was almost a full second faster than the previous team record – set in 2008.  The time also ranks the team third in Division III and puts them just six-hundredths of a second from reaching NCAA-automatic qualifier status.
Felicia Coleman also provided Central with one of its two titles on the day, winning the 100 meters in a personal-best time of 12.34 seconds – just one-hundredth of a second from the NCAA provisional mark.
The other victory for the Dutch came from the Central men’s 4×400 meter relay team, as the squad of Ben Schornack, Allen Scovel, Trevor Veach and Kyle Wood scored a come-from-behind victory in a time of 3:18.13.
The Dutch will play host to the Central Open next Thursday at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium in Pella. Field events are slated for noon with running events beginning at 2 p.m.
