The Central College softball team is preparing for a big match-up with Coe College today, as Head Coach George Wares nears a major coaching milestone.  After sweeping Loras on Sunday, Wares is just three victories away from his 900th career win.  
Wares would become just the second coach in NCAA Division III history to win 900 games.  The late Donna Newberry of Muskingum (Ohio) compiled a 906-419-1 record over 36 years.  
Of course, that is far from his mind as he knows his team enters a crucial week in the Iowa Conference race, starting with the No. 9-ranked Kohawks before facing No. 11 Luther on Saturday.  
The Central softball team is ranked No. 3 in the latest Division III polls with a 27-3 overall record and an unblemished 8-0 mark in the Iowa Conference.
