Garage Fire in Knoxville

Knoxville Fire Department and Rural Fire Department, Knoxville Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office and Marion County Emergency Management responded to a garage fire at 417 North 2nd Street in Knoxville at approximately 2:35 Tuesday afternoon.

Knoxville Fire Chief Mike Roberts says the garage was severely damaged in the blaze, though structure is still standing it was gutted in the fire. The home was scorched as well, ruining the meter though fortunately Roberts says the residents should be able to move back into the home today or tomorrow. The Red Cross was contacted and put the residents of the split home up in a hotel for the night.

Roberts says the official cause of the fire is unknown at this time and the investigation continues.

Marion County real estate records show the deed to the home belongs to Peggy and Lawrence Stevenson.
