Many fire departments in the county were dispatched to grassfires throughout the day on Saturday. Among those responding to numerous fires that got out of control were the Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Clay Township, Bussey, Harvey, and Melcher Dallas. Others may have assisted as well. In these photos and video the Knoxville Rural Township Fire Department responds to a grassfire out of control off of T15 between Knoxville and Pella. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department asks for those burning to call in to report the controlled burn to 828-2220, and to have fire suppression equipment readily available.
