The Knoxville City Council met in regular session last night. At the meeting the council received a report from Harv Sprafka in regards to the Chamber of Commerce survey, approved an amendment to the Chamber loan repayment schedule that will allow them to pay $3,000 per year for five years instead of $5,000 for three years.
The council also set two public hearings for the next regular meeting on May 2nd in regards to sale of real property at 705 E. Main Street and entering an enterprise zone agreement with Weiler Products.
Also approved was the appointment of Nick Hoover and Jason Everly to the Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department, an application that will be sent to the Iowa DOT for an airport funding grant, the renaming of Newbold Drive from highway 14 to 130th Place to Weiler Drive and first consideration of resolutions in regards to sidewalks in the central business district.
In addition the Council also approved a change order for the 2009 West Area Relief Sewer project at an increase of $664, directed the Streetscape Committee to contact area organizations that are represented in the Welcome to Knoxville signs to get their feedback before action is take to remove or replace them and asked them to contact downtown businesses to receive their permission to bolt down benches on the sidewalks.
A special meeting is scheduled for next Monday to discuss the Park Lane Tax Increment Financing agreement, a possible agreement with Schrad Solutions for interim management services and the Weiler enterprise zone agreement. The meeting will take place at 5pm in the council chambers of the Knoxville City Hall.
