Pitcher Ryan Goetzinger tallied seven strikeouts in a complete-game win as the Central College baseball team snapped a five game losing skid with a 7-2 win over Washington University before the Bears turned the tables to defeat the Dutch 7-0 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.  Both games were broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS.
Goetzinger limited Washington to six hits and gave up no walks, while the Dutch bats showed some much-needed firepower to back up the performance on the mound.
Designated hitter Caleb Rangel smacked a three-RBI triple and scored a run, while centerfielder Sam Stetzel went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI and shortstop Mike Furlong knocked in two more runs and scored twice on a 1-for-3 performance at the plate.  Central scored all seven of its runs between the third and fourth innings.
Game two was not as kind to the Dutch, as Washington’s Stephen Bonser was potent on the mound, scattering seven hits and giving up no walks in a complete-game shutout.  The Dutch did get some encouraging offensive performances from second-baseman Adam Ariola and catcher Max Seeman, who each went 2-for-3 at the plate.
After the split, Central is now 13-9 overall with another non-conference game at home against Grinnell on Monday.
