For months now the Marion County Board of Supervisors have been discussing what it will take to make sure the roads in Tracy can withstand additional heavy traffic as a result of the Two Rivers Co-op expansion project, now there may be an additional project that could also impact roads in the area.
During a special joint session with the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors Tuesday morning it was brought up that Martin Marietta Aggregates may also be expanding into Mahaska County. This rumor has not yet been confirmed by Martin Marietta, though because of this news and after comparing estimated figures the boards agreed that the best possible route is to add a new road along the county line from highway G62 north to Osceola Street.
The Supervisors asked Tracy Gathman of Two Rivers to approach his board and see if they are willing to contribute an equal financial share to funding this project along with both Marion and Mahaska County and possibly Martin Marietta if they do expand into the area.
