The latest addition to the Knoxville Police Department is ahead of schedule and will soon be on his own serving the community. Officer Corey Derby had his first day on the job November 1st and recently finished at the top of his class at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Chief Dan Losada says Derby was first in his class of 22 academically and one of five who made the 300 club in the fitness test. He says Officer Derby is now finishing up his field training and they expect to have him out on his own next month. Losada says he is quite pleased with his progress so far and hope that he continues to progress during a long history with the Knoxville Police Department.
