Despite a confident start and good movement on offense, the Pella boys soccer team came up short in their first official match of the season, as they were defeated 2-1 Tuesday evening at the Pella Soccer Complex.
The Little Dutch had possession of the ball for much of the first half, but a breakaway and subsequent shot put Hoover up 1-0 at intermission.  The Pella boys struggled to get back into the game in the second half – including a missed penalty kick – but was able to tie the game on a header from midfielder Spencer Boeyink.  However, Hoover was able to get past the Pella defense one final time to score the game-winning goal late in the contest.
The Little Dutch are now 0-1 on the season and will host Fairfield on Friday evening.
