Fourth graders from Pleasantville Elementary School learned about farm safety and enjoyed a pork burger lunch at Sutter Family Farms east of Pleasantville yesterday. Pleasantville High School FFA students, supervised by Monty Collins, provided lessons on safety around livestock, grain bins and ATVs among other farm related concerns as part of Farm Safety Day. Many of the FFA students who were teaching the young students remember fondly their own days as fourth graders and their visits to the farm to learn these important lessons. Brett Spurgeon student teacher for the Pleasantville agriculture class says this field trip also provides an opportunity for young kids to learn where there food comes from.
