Former Pleasantville Softball Standout now University of Missouri Pitching Ace Chelsea Thomas is not only getting recognition in the Big 12 Conference, she is also getting some national mention as well. Thomas is one of 25 division one softball players to me nominated for the U-S-A Softball Collegiate Player of the Year. The award is the top national award for division one college softball. Thomas has proven this season she is worthy of being nominated. After yesterday’s win over Northern Iowa, She is 18-3 on the season with a razor thin .70 E-R-A. She has struck out 202 batters to only 22 walks and opponents are batting just 147 against her. Thomas and Missouri are set to battle number 14 Oklahoma this weekend in a key Big 12 Conference series. The winner of the Player of the Year will be announced just before the Women’s College World Series on May 31st.
