As previously reported on KNIA/KRLS, a Pella family has offered their land as a home to two trumpeter swans.
Mark and Kay DeCook have spent many years working to restore their 200 acre spread northwest of Lovilia. Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz says it’s an effort that offers many opportunities for restoration.
She says the work has payed off in the ability for the land to support diverse species.
There will be a public event to celebrate the arrival of the swans next Monday at 4pm at the DeCook Wetlands.
