First-year coach Chad Green claimed his first Iowa Conference championship on Saturday, as the Central College men’s golf team shaved 19 strokes off of its third-round score to run away from the field.
The University of Dubuque, Loras College and Luther College all finished within three strokes of each other, but were a staggering 24 strokes or more behind the blistering pace set by the Dutch.
Senior Jason Harvey edged teammate Justin Livingston by two shots for medalist honors and was named the conference’s MVP.  Coach Green was named the league’s Coach of the Year.
The championship is the record 29th crown for the Central men’s golf program and secures a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament for the 30th time.
The national meet will be held at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, on May 10th through the 13th.
