Pleasantville’s Chelsea Thomas has accepted an invitation to try out for the U-S-A National Softball Squad this summer as announced by the Amature Softball Association of America. Thomas will be among 30 athletes at the U-S Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California June 12th-17th. If she is one of 17 players selected to the roster, she would play in six different events in three countries along with the World Cup of Softball which is July 21st-25th in Oklahoma City. Meanwhile Thomas is in the midst of the University of Missouri’s season. Yesterday she picked up another Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Award which was her fifth of the season, she also set the single season strikeout record in a win over Western Illinois. Thomas currently has 291 strikeouts on the season.
