As people take to the water for some recreation over the holiday weekend, the Department of Natural Resources is reminding people to be safe on local rivers. County Conservation Officer Ken Kenyon says they always encourage life vests, even for paddlers on rivers. He says people should always convey their plans to others, letting them know when they’ll be on the water and the points at which they will launch and land. After heavy rains earlier in the week, local river levels are higher than normal and Kenyon urges people to stay alert on the fast-moving water.
