A foreign exchange student spending the school year at Knoxville High School has made a large donation to the Helping Hands Food Pantry. Maria Diminet from Moldova presented the local food shelf with a check for $460 along with several boxes of food and clothing. She collected the donations from area residents in Knoxville and Columbia as part of a task she was assigned by her host organization, World Link, to do a global youth community service project. Diminet says poverty is a large issue in her home country and she plans to use this project as an example on how to help alleviate the problem in Moldova.
