For the third time in four nights, the Pella girls soccer team came out on the winning side of a one-score game, defeating Dallas Center-Grimes 3-2 in overtime on Thursday night.  It was also the second time this week that the Lady Dutch have had to go to overtime to secure the win.
Despite missing five starters for a variety of reasons, the Pella girls were able to strike first offensively, but found themselves reeling on defense as Dallas Center-Grimes answered with two consecutive scores to go up 2-1.  A corner kick goal from Allie DeMeulenaere forced overtime toward the end of a very intense second half, and again the Lady Dutch found themselves needing an extra session to win the game.
A corner kick again presented itself as an offensive opportunity, as Gabi Meirick scored her second goal of the contest and secured a 3-2 win for the Pella girls.  The victory closes out the regular season for the Lady Dutch with a 12-3 overall record.
Pella is ranked No. 4 in the final Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union poll and will face Newton on Tuesday in the Class 2-A Regional Semifinals in Pella.  The Cardinals defeated Knoxville 8-0 on Thursday night in the opening round of the tournament.
