A total of 17 varsity boys golf squads took to the course at Bos Landen in Pella on Monday for the Pella Christian Invitational. Many of the area’s top boys golf squads were in attendance, led by Oskaloosa, which shot a blistering 318 – a full 20 strokes ahead of second-place Williamsburg – to take the team title.
The boys team from Pella High finished in fourth place with a 349, led by an individual third-place finish by Lucas Boyd; who shot a 77. The Pella Christian Varsity squad took 10th place with a 374; as Trey Hugen’s round of 91 led the way for the Eagles. Knoxville’s Chris Barkey carded an 83 for the Panthers, who finished in 12th place with a 389; while the PCM boys were right behind in 13th place with a score of 397. Mike Neff had the low score for the Mustangs with a 94.
For most of the teams participating, the meet was a final tune-up for the Sectional meet, or served as a competitive opportunity before the District Meet.
