Knoxville Public Works Director Jeff May tells KNIA/KRLS that Main Street between 4th Street and 7th Street will be closed effective immediately for an emergency sewer repair between 5th Street and 6th Street. Wastewater crews pumped all night and the contractor will begin repairs today. Once the repairs are completed the pavement will be replaced. The closing may last up to 2 to 3 weeks depending on the extent of the sewer main replacement.
