After playing some top-notch 3-A programs in the Little Hawkeye Conference, the Pella Christian girls golf team will tee it up against 2-A competition in the District 4 meet at the Kalona Golf Club.
With inconsistent weather and busy spring schedules, the Lady Eagles will enter the meet having not played the course before, but Head Coach Larry Hessing says they’re excited to be playing one of the best venues in the state.
“We’re looking forward to playing on the course in Kalona. The course has received some recognition as nine-hole course of the year in 2010, I believe,” said Hessing. “I’ve seen the scorecard on the internet, and I don’t think it’s a real long course, so hopefully the girls will enjoy playing there.”
Hessing adds that though he has not seen all of the teams in the field play this season, he expects Colfax-Mingo to make a run at the team title and says Iowa City Regina boasts one of the top individual golfers in all of Class 2-A. The two teams and four individuals with the best scores will advance to the Regional Meet in West Liberty on May 23rd.
