PCM’s Jordan Van Roekel became the area’s first state champion as he won the class 2A boys 400 Hurdles yesterday at the State Track and Field Meet. Van Roekel’s time was 54.32.
Other highlights from the day’s rain-plagued events – which saw a total of nearly three hours in delays – were the Pella and Pella Christian girls 4×100 relay teams qualifying for finals today, both Knoxville and Pella boys 4×400 meter relay team qualifying for the finals today in class 3A, and the Lady Dutch got third in the 4×200 relay.
Pleasantville’s Hunter Van Haalan got third place in the boys Class 1A high jump. His best jump was six feet four inches which was good enough for the bronze medal. Right now the Knoxville boys are 5th with 21 points in class 3A, the Pella Girls stand 10th with 15 points in class 3A, and the PCM boys are 8th with 15 points.
