A game between two evenly-matched teams that should have been very enjoyable to watch was instead marred by excessive fouls and poor conduct, as the Pella boys soccer team was defeated by Marshalltown 2-1 in double overtime.
The Bobcats received a total of five yellow cards in the match and one player was ejected, while the Little Dutch received two yellow cards.  As a result of the physical play on and away from the ball, two Pella players were injured during the game.
Brennen Mejia scored Pella’s only goal on an assist from Tukker Bogaard, two minutes into the second half, but a defensive lapse by the Little Dutch defense allowed Marshalltown to tie the game ten minutes later.  The game remained tied through the rest of regulation and one overtime period before the Bobcats scored the winning goal with three minutes left in the second overtime period.
The non-conference loss drops the Pella boys soccer team to 12-4 overall.
