Five-point sweeps were the theme of the day at Saturday’s Class 1-A Substate Tennis Meet in Fairfield.  The Pella boys tennis team had defeated Centerville in the preliminary round to earn a meeting with a strong Maharishi squad that was playing on their own court.  The Pioneers greeted the Little Dutch with a swift 5-0 defeat – ending the season for the Pella boys tennis squad as a team.

The Little Dutch still have representation at the State Meet as individuals.  Also at Saturday’s Substate meet, fellow Little Hawkeye Conference rival Grinnell swept Mount Pleasant 5-0 in the other Substate Semifinal; before the Tigers were ousted 5-0 by Maharishi.
