Strong play in singles action helped guide the Pella Christian girls tennis team to a 7-4 victory Thursday against Grinnell.  Despite the loss of No. 1 seed Aubree Else due to illness, the Lady Eagles won every seed but No. 4 in singles, but had to hang on for two wins in doubles play to preserve the win.
Pella Christian’s wins in doubles came courtesy of a shut-out sweep by Ranae and Kayla DeBruin at No. 2 doubles and a 6-1, 6-2 victory by Veronica Francis and Maria Uitermarkt at No. 4 doubles.
Head Coach Faith Bliss hopes the victory will give the team an edge heading into Saturday’s Regionals, as they will take on Saydel in the opening round.
