The girls tennis teams from Knoxville, Pella and Pella Christian finally were able to enjoy warmer temperatures and sunshine Saturday; as they took part in a tournament at Pella High School.
The Panthers, Lady Dutch and Lady Eagles were joined by squads from Indianola and Oskaloosa, with three seeds of singles and doubles each playing eleven games.
Pella Christian finished in second place in the team standings – behind Indianola – with Pella taking third place and Knoxville placing fifth.
The Lady Eagles got first-place finishes in singles play out of Megan Van Kooten at No. 2 and Veronica Francis at No. 3; and also had the tandem of Jillian Kuyers and Paige Enbgers take first place in No. 2 doubles.
Pella’s top performances came from Zoe Vermeer at No. 3 singles and the team of Megan Card and Kara Burnett at No. 1 doubles – both of which finished in second place.
Emily Lee lead the Panthers with a second place finish in No. 2 singles.
