After a tightly contested first half, the Pella girls soccer team found a way to break things open for the final 40 minutes, as they shut-out Knoxville 4-0 Thursday night in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
Despite 11 shots on goal in the first half, the Lady Dutch held just a 1-0 lead at intermission, courtesy of an assist from Bri Schroder that led to an Allie DeMeulenaere goal.
Knoxville’s defense stiffened up in the second half, but Pella improved their efficiency, as crisp passing and only four shots on goal resulted in scores by Gabi Meirick, Kirsten Maakestad and Lexi DeHeer.
Knoxville was severely limited by the Lady Dutch defense and had no shots on goal and no corner kicks.
The win improves the Pella girls to 6-3 this season, with a home game against Pella Christian on the docket for tonight.
