The American Guild of Organists regional convention came through Pella Wednesday, the group’s first stop in town in a half century.
While in Pella, visitors were treated to presentations at Central College, Second Reformed Church and the Pella Opera House.
The demonstration of the Barton theatre organ at the Opera House served as the accompanimnet to the Charlie Chaplin film “The Vagabond”.
KNIA/KRLS spoke with one of the visitors, Thomas Reed, Dean of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls chapter of the guild. He says the Chaplin screening was a highlight, as that is one of the best ways to experience cinema and added the hospitality of the hosts in Pella was great. The group travels to promote the rich history and heritage of traditional organ and choral music.
