Local fire and rescue crews responded to a house fire at 1510 West Pleasant in Knoxville at approximately 1:30 this morning. The Knoxville Fire Department, Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Knoxville Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, MidAmerican, and Alliant crews responded to the scene. The occupant was at work at the time, and there were no people injured. Two dogs, however, were killed in the blaze. Knoxville Fire Chief Mike Roberts says that the cause of the fire is not known at this time and that the incident is still under investigation. The Red Cross is helping the occupant.
