Bri Arkema and Mackenzie Anthony each slammed home runs and all nine Pella batters got at least one hit as the Lady Dutch throttled Norwalk 12-2 Friday night in five innings.
Arkema opened the floodgates in the third inning by blasting a two-out grand slam that jump-started an eight-run rally to put the game out of reach. Anthony slugged her round-tripper the following inning with a solo shot over the center field fence as part of a 2-for-3 performance at the plate.
Rachel Greving, Lindsey Mueller and Allie DeMeulenaere added pop to the bottom of the Pella line-up, each notching two hits and two runs. Whitney Williams led the Lady Dutch in hits with three, including a double, and also had three RBIs.
In the pitcher’s circle, Mandy DeMeulenaere controlled the Warriors, limiting them to five hits, while notching one strikeout and giving up two walks in the five-inning win.
The Pella softball team is now 10-4 and 7-1 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
With the weekend off, the Lady Dutch set their sights on Newton, Chariton and South Tama in the first three days of next week.
