A benefit for local racer Skip Jackson who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer has been a remarkable success, says Knoxville Raceway Announcer Mike Roberts, who helped organize the event. According to Roberts over $55,000 dollars has been raised in a little over nine days to help Jackson pay his medical bills. An auction this past Saturday at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum raised approximately $38,000, and the 50-50 at the races, a quilt raffle and other donations put the total at $55,000, with money still coming in. KNIA/KRLS spoke with Jackson, and he shared that he feels “blessed, very, very blessed,” and that he would like to thank everyone for their donations, their thoughts and prayers and good wishes, as well as those who organized the events. Jackson adds, “I will recover.”
