Knoxville was able to salvage a split with Newton last night in baseball as the Panthers and Cardinals had to go extra innings in the opener with Newton coming out on top 7-6. Lance Daugherty took the loss. The second game was all Knoxville as the Panthers pounced on Newton and led 12-1 going into the fifth inning with a chance to close it out early. However, the Cardinals would rally to score five runs and close to gap to 12-6. That ended up being the final score as Knoxville closed out the game in the seventh. Kellen Glover got the win in the nightcap going four innings in giving up one run on six hits…two walk and four strikeouts. Knoxville is 9-11 and 7-8 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.
