Law enforcement officials across Marion County will be out in full force during the 4th of July weekend. It’s part of a state-wide initiative from the Department of Public Safety and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau as they crack down on alcohol and drug-impaired drivers over the holiday. Law enforcement officials also remind travelers to buckle up and stay within the speed limit. Last year, five people died in Iowa during Independence Day weekend in automobile accidents, though none of them were alcohol-related crashes.
