Leighton State Bank has been recognized for a financial literacy program they’ve developed for kids. The Kids Club Account introduces youngsters aged 5-12 to the basics of opening a bank account and the importance of saving. Carrie Vande Ree, Marketing Director at Leighton State Bank says this was the first year they’ve entered any of their outreach programs in the “Best of Iowa Marketing Contest” sponsored by the Iowa Bankers Association. Development for the program was done in house. Vande Ree says by winning the Golden Award this year, they’ve left themselves big shoes to fill for future programs.
