The Pella High and Pella Christian softball teams are gearing up for their first meeting of the season – a match-up that carries more significance than simply that of bragging rights within the Tulip City.  Both squads have their sights set on a Little Hawkeye Conference championship; and while there is plenty of the season ahead of them, Monday’s contest presents an opportunity for either team to gain an advantage on the rest of the league.
Lady Eagles Head Coach Nate Van Wyk says Pella’s senior leadership is one of their greatest assets; adding that his team will need to continue to perform well at the plate if they hope to earn the win.
The game also features a head-to-head competition between two of the top pitchers in the conference in Pella’s Mandy DeMeulenaere and Pella Christian’s Paige Blom.
Lady Dutch Head Coach Krista DeMeulenaere says she’s looking forward to facing their cross-town rivals, stating that any meeting between the two squads usually results in a high level of competition.
The game will be held at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the Pella High School softball field and will be broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS.
